What is hCG?  HCG is Human Chorionic Gonadotropin which is a hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy where the substance almost completely controls the woman's metabolic functions.  Most hCG dieters will lose up to 2 lbs. per day with an average minimum loss of .5 lbs. per day.  Dr. A.T.W. Simion's book describes the protocol (you can obtain a free copy of this ebook by completing the sign-up form on our site) and further details of the diet, proven with his decades of research and successful hCG quick weight loss.

It is important to note that hCG does not cause weight loss.  Also, it is not FDA approved as a weight loss diet. Fertility clinics have used hCG for many years, however, at these clinics the women receive about 10,000 units or more per injection and the men receive above 2,000 units.  Dr. Simion's proscribes that a person on the hCG diet will only receive between 125-200 units per injections.  This means this is no concern regarding an increased  risk of becoming pregnant.

When hCG is injected, the hormone triggers an area of the brain known as the "Diencephalon," which then helps regulate the hypothalamus and pituitary glands.  Therefore, the hCG in the body actually allows us to utilize the "energy" in our adipose tissue. What is adipose tissue?  It is abnormal or unwanted fat.

The second component that attributes to the weight loss is the 500 calorie per day diet.  A positive is the hCG present in the bloodstream enables the dieter to go WITHOUT hunger pains and to function and feel fully satiated on only 500 calories.  In addition, and equally important to note is that the hCG hormone helps to preserve muscle, thereby little or no drops in weight or inches is attributed to a loss of muscle tissue.

Dr. Simions describes in ""Pounds and Inches" the 3 kinds of fat on the body: Normal fat, structural far, and abnormal, unwanted fat.  The diet protocol requires being administered daily injections of hCG in the amount of 125-200 milliliters, accompanied by following a very low calorie diet (VLCD) consisting of 500 calories and no more from primarily protein and carbs.

It is key to "load" for two consecutive days prior to starting the hcg weight loss program.  Meaning, one must eat to capacity as many fatty, high-calorie foods as possible.  Literally, the dieter must take two days to ingest to capacity as much food as one can stand without becoming sick, while primarily concentrating on consuming FATS.

Why eat so much prior to a diet?  The reason is to get your body used to receiving all that fat, so by the third day of injections, which is the first day of the VLCD 500 calorie diet, the body will be looking for all the recent fat intake.  Since the dieter is not providing it by food, the body will go after it as the abnormal, unwanted far which exists on your body.

Consequently, throughout the course of the hCG diet, the diencephalon has been triggered to "attack" the all of the fat that is difficult to get rid of on the body.  It basically resets or re-ignites the diencephalon to aid in the proper metabolism each individual craves.  Therefore, it 'cures" the person of future obesity problems since the metabolized fat can be providing up to 2,000-3,000 calories, possibly more, in your body on a daily basis.

When a fetus is growing, the mother is supplied nutrients in much the same way during pregnancy.  Were the mother to suffer bouts of starvation, hCG actually enables the baby to continue being well nourished by using the extra body fat on the mother's body.  With Dr. Simion's Protocol, the hCG is derived from the urine of pregnant women, although, interestingly, the hormone is present in men and women who aren't pregnant as well.

The hCG weight loss studies show the following:  weight lost following the Simions protocol comes directly from adipose fat tissue, not lean muscle.  This means the weight lost comes directly from fat and does not strip the body of much needed muscle, vitamins or minerals essential for maintaining good health.  At the same time, it releases excessive amounts of fat-stored nutrients into the blood stream which is absorbed by the body.  It is because of what happens to the body during the protocol that the hCG dieters often report feeling and appearing in great health while marveling at the loss of negative health risks they had as an overweight individual.
